Warpaint Illustrated has learned that Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt will remain in Kansas City at least through 2012. Today he signed a five-year contract.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but now that Colquitt has been re-signed there's no chance he'll hit the market as an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season. Thursday was the deadline for teams to sign restricted free agents to one-year tender offers.

Colquitt originally joined the Chiefs as a third-round draft choice out of Tennessee in 2005. He struggled as a rookie, averaging just 39.4 yards per punt, but excelled over the next two seasons, averaging 44.3 and 45.5 yard per punt respectively.
