Biography:
Pro Career: Drafted by the Patriots in the 3rd round (25th overall) of the 1996 NFL draft.

New England Patriots (1996-2005)

Bruschi has been a team leader and anchor of the Patriots defense. He appeared in his first Pro Bowl in 2004. Elected as a team captain, his tireless work ethic and determination influenced teammates and competitors alike.

He is a hard-hitting player with a nose for the ball. He has manged to accumulate 753 career tackles, 25 sacks and 11 interceptions in his nine-year career.

Bruschi has been known to come up with the big play at the right time, instinctively forcing turnovers at the right times.

Bruschi has averaged more than 100 tackles over the last four seasons. ...Voted a defensive captain each of the last three seasons.

Bruschi is the only player in NFL history to return four consecutive interceptions for touchdowns.

College: University of Arizona

Bruschi played defense for the Arizona Wildcats as a defensive end where he tied the NCAA Division I-A career sack record with 52 QB sacks. He finished his collegiate career having amassed 185 total tackles (137 solo), forced six fumbles and recovered five others.

Personal: Personal Bio

Tedy Lacap Bruschi was born on June 9, 1973 in San Francisco, Calif. He is the son of Anthony Sr. and Juanita Bruschi. Bruschi attended Roseville High (CA), playing football where he was a two-time team caption and earned all-conference, all-northern California and all-metro honors. Bruschi participated in both track and wrestling earning letters in all three sports. Tedy and his wife, Heidi, have three sons, Tedy, Jr and Rex and Dante.

Notes: Bruschi suffered a mild stroke one week after his pro-bowl appearance in February of 2005. He has been out of football recovering through the first six weeks of the 2005 NFL Season. The Patriots had placed Bruschi on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, which allows him to return at some point during the 2005 season. Bruschi and his family will determine if the linebacker returns to play in 2005.
