Former University of Louisiana at Monroe quarterback Doug Pederson’s move into the NFL coaching ranks came complete with a hometown touch.

Former University of Louisiana at Monroe quarterback Doug Pederson’s move into the NFL coaching ranks came complete with a hometown touch.

Pederson hired M&W Transfer, LLC to handle his residential move from Shreveport -- where he’d been head coach of Calvary Baptist -- to New Jersey as he assumes his new role as an offensive assistant with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.

The Monroe-based company is the official mover and storage provider for ULM and provides the football team with a unique Warhawk trailer to haul equipment during the season.

With the blessing of ULM athletics director Bobby Staub, who wanted the trailer on the road this summer to generate more exposure for the athletics department, M&W utilized it for the first time on a residential move to accommodate a signature product of the program. Pederson and his wife Jeannie have three sons – Drew, Josh and Joel.

The Pederson’s family dog even made the cross-country trip in the truck with the M&W driver Pederson will receive a die-cast version of the truck as thanks for patronizing M&W.

Pederson enjoyed a productive college career at the former Northeast Louisiana University before embarking on a 12-year tour of the NFL. From 1987-90, Pederson threw for 6,315 yards and 33 touchdowns to rank among the school’s all-time greats. Pederson completed 556-of-1,006 pass attempts overall with seven 300-yard games.

Pederson spent the last four years as head coach at Calvary Baptist, where his high school teams were 40-11.

Pederson played for the Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns. His best NFL season came with the Eagles in 1999, when he threw for 1,276 yards and seven touchdowns while mentoring Donovan McNabb. Pederson also served as backup to legends like Dan Marino and Brett Favre.

Pederson’s new job reunites him with Eagles coach Andy Reid.

“Doug has a great ability to share ideas with people,” Reid said upon hiring Pederson earlier this year. “I thought Doug did a tremendous job working with Donovan McNabb when Donovan was a rookie learning the system. Doug helped explain the system to him from a player’s standpoint. Doug started up a high school program in Louisiana and did an outstanding job there. He has a nice feel for coaching.”

M&W is an agent for Arpin Group, Inc. is the holding company for Arpin Van Lines, Arpin International Group and Arpin Moving Systems (Canada).
