The annual Supplemental Draft took place Thursday with just two players selected. The Philadelphia Eagles decided not to spend a future pick to take a player, but Baltimore and San Diego decided otherwise.

Georgia's Paul Oliver and Maryland's Jared Gaither were the only two players selected in the NFL's Supplemental Draft. Oliver went to the San Diego Chargers while Gaither stays in the state of Maryland by being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.

"We had the opportunity to get a good football player today, and we took it," said San Diego General Manager A.J. Smith of Oliver. "Paul Oliver is very competitive, aggressive, confident player. He's not cautious about anything he does on the field. You know how we like depth. We'll add Paul to the mix as a Charger and time will tell."

The selection of Oliver marks the first time the Chargers have selected a player in a supplemental draft since using a second-round selection in 1998 to take two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jamal Williams. This time around they had to give up a fourth round pick in next year's draft to get Oliver.

Gaither, who drew plenty of attention from NFL teams, wound up being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens had to spend a fifth round pick in the 2008 Draft to select Gaither.

The Eagles last used a supplemental pick in 1987 when they drafted Cris Carter.
