After an impressive career at Michigan, fourth round pick Jason Avant officially joins the Eagles after agreeing to a four-year deal with the team. Avant will join the mix in a young, talented corps of receivers being stockpiled by the Eagles. He'll also get the distinction of wearing #81, the number worn by Terrell Owens during his stay in Philadelphia.
The 23-year-old Avant ranks third on Michigan’s all-time list in receptions (169), behind Braylon Edwards (252) and Marquise Walker (176). In 47 career games, Avant started 30 times and amassed 2,247 receiving yards and 13 TDs. He also had a streak of 33 consecutive games in which he caught at least one pass.
The Eagles are reportedly moving closer to signing both first-rounder Brodrick Bunkley and second rounder Winston Justice, but both remain unsigned.
The Chicago, IL, native attended Carver High School, where he earned All-America honors as a wide receiver and a safety.
