Just Two of Eight Draft Picks Signed

The Eagles are chipping away at getting their draft picks signed. So far, just two of the eight players that they selected have signed. Talks are continuing with the other picks, but the progress is reported to be slow.

The Eagles know that there is a lot to do between now and the time they play their first pre-season game on August 6. High on the priority list is getting their draft picks signed.

After talking with each of their picks, the Eagles were able to put together deals for fifth rounder Omar Gaither (Tennessee) and sixth rounder La Juan Ramsey (USC) to get the ball rolling.

Gaither - who signed a four-year deal - earned his second straight All-SEC second team honors as a senior, recording 78 tackles, four sacks, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

The 22-year-old Gaither notched 210 tackles with six sacks, two interceptions and five forced fumbles in his career at Tennessee. He did some of his best work on special teams (29 special teams tackles), before taking over as the starting SAM linebacker in his junior year.

Ramsey, a native of Compton, California, was a four-year contributor at both defensive tackle and end at USC, helping the Trojans to go 48-4 record and capture two NCAA Championships.

The 22 year old earned All-Pac 10 honorable mention honors as a senior in 2005, posting 40 tackles, including six for a loss, while replacing Mike Patterson (his former roommate), who was drafted by the Eagles in the first round in 2005.
