The Eagles want to make sure that Shawn Andrews doesn't go anywhere, so they are set to announce a deal that will keep him with the team through the 2015 season. It's expected to bring $11 - $12 million to Andrews with a signing bonus and base salary for 2006.
The 23 year old Andrews was the Eagles first round pick - 16th overall - in the 2004 Draft and used a strong training camp to immediately grab the starting right guard spot in his rookie season. Unfortunately, he suffered a broken fibula after playing just one game that season, but returned to reclaim his job in 2005 and went on to start all 16 games.
Andrews had originally signed a six year deal out of college, but the additional years would likely keep him in Philadelphia throughout his entire career.
During the off-season, Andrews had a close friend of his pass away from heart failure and it caused the young player to examine his weight. Andrews showed up in mini-camp about 30 pounds lighter and committed to losing a few more pounds. Andrews is currently listed at 345 pounds.
